Dayton dominates No. 1 West Virginia, 5-1, handing the Mountaineers their first loss of the season.
On Tuesday afternoon, West Virginia received the No. 1 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll as the only unbeaten team in the top 10. Just a few hours later, the Flyers buzzed West Virginia in a match that was never even close.
Dayton secured its first win over a No. 1 team in program history with the win.
The Flyers first got on the board in the 17th minute and just five minutes later, Dayton found the back of the net again, taking an early 2-0 lead.

The Flyers were rolling, scoring again in the 37th minute, holding a commanding lead at the half.

The Mountaineers could not stop the aggressive Flyer attack, as Dayton recorded a season-high 11 shots on goal in 16 attempts. Dayton's offense was clicking as four different Flyers scored on five goals.
Sophomore midfielder Martin Bakken tallied two assists and a goal on just one shot attempt, and senior Joseph Melto Quiah recorded two goals on the night.
West Virginia (8-1-3, 3-0-1 Sun Belt) will look to get back on track at home against South Carolina on Saturday. As for Dayton (6-2-3, 1-1-2 Atlantic 10), it will go on the road to St. Bonaventure to try and build on its biggest win in program history.
