In their first-ever meeting, Cal traveled across the country to stun No. 1 Pitt men’s soccer with a 1-0 victory. The upset marks Cal’s first-ever win in the ACC and puts a shuddering stop to Pitt’s nation-leading seven-game win streak and undefeated conference record. The Golden Bears had an exceptional defensive showing after taking the lead midway through the first half and proceeding to stop 12 Pitt corners and 18 shots.

Nonso Adimabua jumped all over a Pitt mistake in the box to earn the game-winner in the 20th minute, but it was goalie Marco Brougher who stole the show from there. Brougher solidified the shutout with a clutch PK save in the 79th minute on his way to a career-high eight saves.
In their first win over a No. 1 program since 2019, Cal improves to 1-3-2 in conference play. The Panthers, who have been ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll for three straight weeks, drop to 4-1 in the ACC.
