Michigan sent its fans home on a high note in its final regular season home match, shocking No. 2 Maryland 2-0. It was the program’s first ranked win since 2019 and among the biggest upsets in the 2024 men’s soccer season so far.
Entering the match, the Terrapins were the only unbeaten team left in Big Ten play, with their only other loss dating back to August.
The Wolverines got on the board early, finding the back of the net in the ninth minute with their first shot of the match. Sophomore Patrick O’Toole connected with graduate student Bryce Blevins’ pass for his first goal of the season.

Michigan tacked on another in the early minutes of the second half as Blevins notched his fifth goal of the year on a penalty shot.
Maryland dominated Michigan in shots (21-8), shots on goals (9-2) and corners (12-5), but the great equalizer was sophomore goalkeeper Isaiah Goldson’s performance. He finished with nine saves, a career-high, while the Terrapins ended with zero.
The Wolverines improved to 7-3-5 with a final regular season match at Wisconsin on Sunday, Nov. 3. Maryland drops to 8-2-5 with regular-season meetings against Rutgers and No. 1 Ohio State still on the slate.
