There is so much to look forward to this 2025 college softball season. These are five of my favorite storylines for this season.

1. We have a new-look Oklahoma team.
Can they be just as dominant? Is a five-peat possible? The legendary senior class that won four national titles has departed OU, but we know no one reloads better than Oklahoma, and it's going to be fun seeing a fresh Sooner team.
2. How will conference realignment impact softball?
UCLA, Oregon and Washington are in the Big Ten now. Stanford and Cal in the ACC. Arizona and Utah in the Big 12. And Oklahoma and Texas in the SEC? I mean, talk about a gauntlet in the SEC with OU, Texas and Florida, the top three preseason teams. The Big Ten just got a whole new look with softball powerhouse UCLA joining, and we thought Oklahoma State would be the only competitor in the Big 12 till new teams joined. We have new conference matchups and rivalries to enjoy.

3. We have high-profile faces in new places.
There are so many transfers to track this 2025 season to see how they can impact their new teams.
4. How far can Nijaree Canady lead a revamped Texas Tech team?
I mean, this team is almost entirely new from top to bottom, and they now have the best pitcher in college softball.
5. Texas and Florida both return almost their entire cores from 2024.
These were the WCWS teams who both added talent. They started the season at No. 1 and No. 2 in pretty much every poll. Can they live up to the hype this season?
