Texas Tech’s 19-game unbeaten run came to an end Saturday after a statement win from Kansas State in front of its home crowd.
The Red Raiders led by two entering the fourth quarter after rallying late in the third, capped by a Jada Malone layup that gave Texas Tech a 44-42 edge. The Wildcats answered with second-chance points and clutch shot-making to seize control down the stretch.

Kansas State grabbed its first lead of the fourth on a Jordan Speiser jumper with 4:50 left and never trailed again. Tess Heal and Gina Garcia keyed the surge, with Garcia finishing through contact and Heal knocking down a pair of free throws in the final 18 seconds to push the margin to five. Taryn Sides added two more free throws with four seconds remaining to seal it.
Texas Tech stayed within striking distance behind Bailey Maupin and Jada Malone who has 18 and 15 points respectively, but the Red Raiders struggled to convert late possessions and were hurt by turnovers and lost offensive rebounds in the final minutes.
