Getting to know the 'new' Oklahoma softball

Breaking down new-look Oklahoma softball in search of fifth straight title

Get to know the new look of Oklahoma.

No one reloads like Oklahoma softball, right? Four straight national championships with a legendary senior class that never didn't win a title at Oklahoma means we got used to a pretty familiar and dominant Sooner softball team.

Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Kinzie Hansen, Nicole May and Rylie Boone were the players we got used to hearing about and seeing for four seasons.

This year will be the first time in what feels like a little while that we have a new-look Oklahoma team. Outside of Ella Parker, Kasidi Pickering and a few others, we have a lot of new names to get to know. But there's still so much talent, so let's get to know this new era of Oklahoma softball.

Starting with transfers, here are some names you need to know. Isabela Emerling transferred from North Carolina. She hit .323 for a strong 1.102 OPS with 53 RBI and 14 homers last season. She will likely fill in the shoes of Kinzie Hansen behind the plate. Freshman Corri Hicks is also an option at catcher.

Abby Dayton transferred from Utah after an All-American sophomore campaign. She is a seasoned hitter with a lot of speed, hit .430 last season and is a stellar defender who will likely be in center field.

Ailana Agbayani is another transfer from BYU. She finished the season with a .424 batting average and 16 extra base hits. Agbayani has done well in the fall and could be the new starting second baseman.

Two freshmen infielders, Sydney Barker and Gabbie Garcia, could be competing for the starting shortstop role, and another freshman to know is Tia Milloy. Softball fans may recognize that last name, and yes, her sister is former Tennessee star Kiki Milloy. Tia is competing for a starting outfield spot.

At third base, Nelly McEnroe-Marinas missed last season due to injury but is back to make a big impact this season.

And then in the circle, Kierston Deal is back, but we have some new names to know. Sam Landry transferred from Louisiana and should make a big impact. Isabella Smith transferred from Campbell, and then Audrey Lowry is a lefty freshman pitcher and a top-ranked recruit.

As for familiar names, Kasidi Pickering is back in right field, Cydney Sanders will be back for her last season at first base and the big bat Ella Parker is back to shine some more.
