Notre Dame and Texas A&M enter the top 10
No. 8 Notre Dame knocked then-No. 24 Navy from the undefeated ranks, and now the Fighting Irish are back in the top 10 for the first time since Week 2. With a 7-1 record overall, Notre Dame's third ranked win of the year has it in contention for a playoff spot.
If you beat a top-10 team, then you become a top-10 team... at least that's how it worked for No. 10 Texas A&M this week. The Aggies rose four spots from No. 14 after defeating then-No. 8 LSU. Texas A&M turned to its backup quarterback Marcel Reed who only completed two passes while rushing for three touchdowns in the win.
Texas A&M is now the fourth-highest-ranked SEC team (behind No. 2 Georgia, No. 4 Texas and No. 7 Tennessee), but the Aggies are atop the SEC standings as the only undefeated team remaining in conference play at 5-0.

Texas falls out of the top five
No. 6 Texas surprisingly fell out of the top five, even after a road win over a then-ranked Vanderbilt team. The Longhorns fell behind Miami (FL) in this week’s rankings. While the Hurricanes are undefeated, they beat a dismal Florida State team last week.

Washington State and Colorado enter this week's rankings
After No. 20 Illinois, No. 21 Missouri and No. 24 Navy suffered blowout losses to ranked opponents, with No. 25 Vanderbilt also losing (albeit closer) to a ranked opponent, there were bound to be openings in the latest AP Poll. This week's new entrants are No. 22 Washington State and No. 23 Colorado.
Washington State joins the rankings after a three-point win over San Diego State. The Cougars are 7-1 this year with its only loss coming to now-No. 15 Boise State.
Colorado is ranked for the first time since its magical September run of Coach Prime's first year as coach. The Buffaloes are now 6-2 this season and 4-1 in the Big 12. Colorado's two Heisman candidates Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have Boulder rocking, with the Buffaloes in contention for a conference title.
