1. Texas
Still undefeated to start the year, the Longhorns have already had two run-rule victories over Longwood and Louisiana. Leighann Goode and Kayden Henry are both batting .500 to start the season — the Longhorns are my top team.
2. Florida
The dominant Gators have four run-rule wins, including a 13-1 win over Michigan. The bats are off to a hot start with five different players hitting over .400.
3. Oklahoma
Ella Parker leads the defending champ's offense with a smooth start, batting .591 with a home run. The Sooners claim my third spot.
4. UCLA
The Bruins move up a spot to No. 4 after a strong first week. Savannah Pola hit almost .700 on the weekend and the pitching staff surrendered just two runs.
5. Texas A&M
Aggies round out my top five after starting the season 5-0 with run-rule wins over Purdue and Villanova. Kramer Eschete has already smashed two homers and had the play of the weekend with a defensive web gem against Utah State.
6. Tennessee
Tennessee is No. 6 after losing its first game of the season to Nebraska, but the Vols then picked up a ranked win over Northwestern as Karlyn Pickens tossed a five-inning complete game shutout in the run-rule win.
7. Texas Tech
The Red Raiders climb up to No. 7 despite one loss to Mississippi State. Texas Tech did get a big win over Nebraska where NiJaree Canady hit a 3-run homer off Jordy Bahl.
8. Florida State
The Seminoles also climb after starting off the season 4-1, defeating Oklahoma State for their first ranked win.
9. Oklahoma State
Cowgirls take the biggest drop to No. 9 after starting the year 2-2. Oklahoma State split against Florida State but suffered an unexpected upset loss to Louisiana Tech.
10. LSU
Duke drops out of the top 10, and in comes LSU after the Tigers started their season undefeated. Freshman Jayden Heavener tossed the program’s sixth perfect game in her collegiate debut against Charlotte.
