Preseason watch list revealed for Ray Guy Award

The Augusta Sports Council announced the preseason watch list for the 2016 Ray Guy Award, which is rewarded to the nation's top punter in FBS Division I football.

The council revealed the names of 28 punters from around the country, including 2015 finalists San Jose State's Michael Carrizosa and Colorado State's Hayden Hunt.

The Ray Guy Award has been handed out since 2000 and is named after the former Southern Mississippi punter, who was an unaminous All-American selection in 1972 and the only punter selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

The 2016 winner will mark the first time in three years that a new punter will win the award. Utah's Tom Hackett captured back-to-back Ray Guy Awards in 2014 and 2015 and is now in the New York Jets organization.

The winner of the Ray Guy Award will be unveiled on Dec. 8 during The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
