Oklahoma freshman guard Trae Young is just 6-2 but he's leading the country in scoring and he's third nationally in assists per game. The Sooners' freshman sensation is averaging 28.7 points per game – more than three points more than the country's second-leading scorer – and 8.7 assists per game.
Young has led Oklahoma to a 6-1 start one season after the Sooners finished 11-20. His scoring numbers aren't a fluke. If anything, he's gotten better with more experience at the college level. He has scored 33, 43, 32 and 28 points in his last four games.

Young is a high-usage scorer – he uses 37 percent of Oklahoma's possession, meaning 37 percent of the team's possessions end in a shot or turnover by Young, according to kenpom.com. The site says that he has a similar statistical profile in college to Villanova's Scottie Reynolds, Duke's Kyrie Irving and Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell.
The Sooners have two massive games upcoming – vs. No. 25 USC and at No. 6 Wichita State. If Oklahoma can win one or both of those games heading into Big 12 play, the team will be in good position to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament, where Young could have the chance to shine on college basketball's brightest stage.
