Week 6 promises to be full of surprises with the top-25 matchups and rivalry games slated for this week. Who would have thought Utah and California would be one of the biggest games in Week 6? Both teams are ranked but only one can remain the lone undefeated team in the Pac-12. Here's a look at what to watch for out in Salt Lake City and other stories to follow:
Other storylines to watch:
Which defense will prevail: Michigan or Northwestern? The Wildcats have the No. 1 scoring defense in FBS after they have allowed only seven points per game. The Wolverines sit right behind them as the No. 2 scoring defense after they have given up only 14 points in their last four games. Both teams have completed two shutouts this season, including Michigan coming off back-to-back ones against BYU and Maryland. Be prepared for a low scoring game, but it will be interesting to see which offense can handled the opposing defense better.
Can Miami break its streak against rival Florida State? The rivalry between Miami and Florida State hasn't been the same in recent years minus the national title implications. FSU has looked shaky at times this season but still remain undefeated. FSU may be without running back Dalvin Cook, who pulled a hamstring against Wake Forest. Meanwhile, Miami suffered a bad loss on the road last week at Cincinatti. Al Golden has yet to defeat the Seminoles during his time at Miami, who have lost five straight games to its rival. It's the longest losing streak since 1963-1972.
How will Notre Dame and Georgia respond after their losses? In Week 5, Notre Dame was a 2-point conversion away from sending Clemson to overtime. Georgia meanwhile got rolled by Alabama at home in Athens. The Bulldogs have to travel up to Knoxville to face a Tennessee team that has struggled to put games away this season. The Irish have a tougher battle against Navy and its quarterback Keenan Reynolds. They were able to stuff the triple option against Georgia Tech, so Notre Dame hopes to do the same in effort to erase last week's loss from memory.
