Oregon State was down to its final strike of the College World Series, trailing Arkansas 1-0 in the series and 3-2 in the top of the ninth of Game 2 Wednesday night. After shortstop Cadyn Grenier's single scored pinch runner Zach Clayton, tying the game, right fielder Trevor Larnach launched a two-run home run into the Beavers' bullpen over the right field fence, giving Oregon State a 5-3 lead it wouldn't relinquish.
The Beavers were nearly eliminated as a pop-up from Grenier dropped in between three Arkansas fielders in foul territory, which would have been the final out of the game had it been caught. Instead, Oregon State capitalized on its new life with a three-run rally that was capped off emphatically by Larnach's homer. It was Larnach's team-high 19th home run of the season and it brought his season RBI total to 77.
