North Carolina Central took down Alabama State in the Orange Blossom Classic on Sunday afternoon 31-24 to close Week 1 of FCS college football. The Eagles and Hornets made it through a long rain delay shortly after halftime in a game that came down to the final drive.

NCCU running back J'Mari Taylor was the star of the game rushing for 128 yards on 24 yards for two touchdowns, catching another touchdown to bring his total to three.

Alabama State ran a two-quarterback system, splitting time between Andrew Body and Jonah O'Brien. Neither completed more than 50 percent of his passes, but Body did run for 134 yards and two scores. Click or tap here for final stats from the game.

Florida A&M won the 2024 MEAC/SWAC Challenge, defeating Norfolk State 24-23. The Rattlers have now won back-to-back games in the city of Atlanta, becoming the first team to finish the season with a Celebration Bowl victory and start the season with a MEAC/SWAC Challenge win.
