Winning their fourth national title, the TCU Horned Frogs are the 2024 rifle national champions. 

The championship concluded on Saturday with TCU totaling an aggregate score of 4,732. After finishing as runner-up for the past three years, the Horned Frogs take home this year's title with West Virginia in second, tallying a score of 4,729. 

West Virginia tops the individual standings with Gavin Barnick as this year's air rifle champion and Mary Tucker as this year's small bore champion. 

The 2024 NC rifle championship took place on March 8 and 9 at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia.

  • March 8: Individual and team competition — Smallbore 
  • March 9: Individual and team competition — Air Rifle 

The competitive events for the 2024 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Rifle Championships will be individual smallbore rifle three-position (60 shots) and air rifle (60 shots), with individual finals in each event, team smallbore rifle three-position and team air rifle. The overall team champion will be determined by combining the smallbore and air rifle team totals into one aggregate score for each institution.

Each team will consist of five individuals with the top four scores in each discipline counting toward the team score. All competitors who have qualified for the championships are eligible for the individual championships in each discipline. The relay format of the championships will place at least one competitor from each institution as counters on each relay in both smallbore and air rifle.

2024 NCAA rifle championship qualifiers

INDIANAPOLIS — ;The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Rifle Committee has announced the teams and individual qualifiers for the 2024 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Rifle Championships.

Hosted by West Virginia University, the championships will be held March 8-9 on campus at WVU Coliseum, Morgantown, West Virginia.

The top eight teams in both the smallbore three-position and air rifle events were selected based on the average of the three highest regular-season aggregate scores with no more than one match at any given site. The average of the three highest scores was added to the aggregate scores from the designated qualifiers to determine the top eight teams.

Individual and team competitions in smallbore three-position (60 shots) will be held Friday, March 8, and individual and team competitions in air rifle (60 shots) will be held Saturday, March 9. The overall team champion will be determined by combining the smallbore and air rifle team total scores into one aggregate score for each institution.

2024 NCAA rifle championship history

From 1980 to 2004, the championship consisted of 120 shots by each competitor in smallbore, and 40 shots per competitor in air rifle. Since 2005, the championship has consisted of 60 shots for both smallbore and air rifle, equaling a total of 120 shots per team member.
