NCAA Division III football committee selects championship field

DIII football: 2024 selection show

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Football Committee announced today the field of 40 teams for the 2024 NCAA Division III Football Championship. Teams were selected based on conference results and NCAA Power Index (NPI).

Twenty-eight conferences received automatic-qualifying berths. The remaining twelve at-large berths were awarded to teams from the institutions that did not win an automatic berth.

The first round of the championship will be played November 23 at the host institution's campus or at an alternate site approved by the football committee.  The fifty-first Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the national championship game, will be played Sunday, January 5, at Shell Energy Stadium, in Houston, Texas.  The game will be broadcast live on ESPN at 7 p.m. Central time.

In the 2023 championship, Cortland defeated North Central (IL) 38-37, to claim their first nation championship.
