RIT defeats Union (NY) to win 2022 DIII men's lacrosse championship
RIT defeated Union (NY) 12-10, to win the 2022 DIII men's lacrosse championship. Union went into the locker room at halftime, leading 7-4 and led by as much as five before RIT stormed back with six unanswered goals to begin the second half, taking a 10-7 lead with 11:48 left to go in the fourth quarter.
RIT's Quinn Commandant led the comeback, tallying 3 goals - two coming in the second half. Union's comeback attempt would fall short, adding just three goals in the second half.
The championship marks RIT's second championship in a row and just the program's second-ever national title.

Union (NY) leads RIT 7-4 at halftime in the 2022 DIII men's lacrosse championship match. Union's Peter Burnes opened up the scoring in the first period on an assist from Keaton McCann. Burnes is the leading scorer for Union after the first half, with two goals after adding his second goal in the 2nd period to give Union a 7-2 lead at the time.
Union is currently outshooting RIT, 31-16.
DIII men's lacrosse title game
Union will meet RIT in the DIII men's lacrosse title game today. RIT dominated their last game against Tufts winning 26-15, while Union had a 11-8 win over York (PA).

With both semifinal matchups all said and done, we have a pairing set for the 2022 DIII men's lacrosse championship. Union will meet RIT in the title game after both teams handled their business on Sunday.
RIT dominated their game against Tufts winning 26-15. The Tigers got out to a great start in that game thanks to a 10-4 first quarter. Union's also has a great first period to thank as well for its 11-8 win over York (PA). The Dutchmen led 6-1 after the first.
The two will now meet at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT to decide the national championship at 1 p.m. ET

There are six first-round games on Wednesday to kick off the 2022 NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Championship, which will culminate five rounds later in the national championship on May 29. Here's the schedule of Wednesday's games:

Championship field announced
INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Committee has selected the teams that will compete in the 2022 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The championship provides for a 38-team tournament. Automatic qualification (AQ) is granted to 27 conference champions, which form “Pool A.” One team is selected from true independents and schools from conferences that do not have an automatic bid for their champions (Pool B). The remaining ten teams are selected from those teams in conferences with automatic bids that did not win their conference’s AQ and the remaining Pool B institutions (Pool C). The teams are geographically paired, whenever possible.
Except for the championship game, all games will be played on the campus of one of the competing teams. First round competition will be held on Wednesday, May 11 with the winners advancing to play in the second round on Saturday, May 14. The second and third rounds will take place on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15. The quarterfinals and semifinals will take place on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22.
This year’s finalists will advance to Hartford, Connecticut for the championship game at Rentschler Field, which will be played at 1 p.m. Eastern time, Sunday, May 29, and shown via web stream on krikya18.com. The Division II championship will follow at 4 p.m. Eastern time, which can also be seen on krikya18.com. The Division I semifinals and championship are Saturday, May 28 and Monday, May 30 at the same site.
