Tracking undefeated FBS college football teams in the 2025 season

How the college football national championship changed through the decades

Each season, 136 teams have the opportunity to complete the perfect season. Seven weeks into the 2025 season, only 11 teams can still chase this dream. After Week 7 of 2024, 11 teams remained perfect. Oregon was the last team remaining last season, not losing until the CFP quarterfinals.

Michigan was the last team to complete the perfect season, going 15-0 in 2023 and capturing the national championship.

POLLS: Check out the latest top 25 rankings

Here are the 11 undefeated FBS teams through Week 7:
*Teams are listed alphabetically, times are all Eastern. Rankings are from the AP Top 25 Poll

No. 15 BYU (6-0)

The Cougars are off to their second consecutive 6-0 start after escaping Arizona in double overtime in Week 7. Freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier had his worst game of the season throwing the ball, going 12 of 29 with two interceptions, but he punched in two scores on the ground, including the game-winner. Kalani Sitake's squad has their toughest stretch of the season arriving in Week 8 with No. 23 Utah, at Iowa State and at No. 7 Texas Tech over the next three weeks.

No. 12 Georgia Tech (6-0)

Brent Key has the Jackets at 6-0 for the first time in 14 years after a comfortable win over the Hokies. Haynes King has continued to make his case as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, tallying 13 total touchdowns with just one interception so far this season. Georgia is the only ranked team left on Tech's schedule, but five teams still remain undefeated in ACC play.

No. 3 Indiana (6-0)

The Hoosiers picked up maybe their biggest win in program history last Saturday, knocking off No. 3 Oregon on the road — Indiana's first top-5 road win ever. Curt Cignetti's squad earned its highest rank in program history, and quarterback Fernando Mendoza has cemented himself in the Heisman race. There are no ranked squads left on the Hoosiers schedule as they search for their first Big Ten title since 1967.

🏆 PERFECTION: Every undefeated national champion since 1936

No. 22 Memphis (6-0)

The Tigers are on a roll this season, really playing in only one close game all season in their one-point win over Arkansas in Week 4. They face a struggling UAB team this weekend that just fired its coach before preparing for what will likely be their biggest game of the year against No. 19 South Florida in a pivotal American conference matchup.

No. 2 Miami (Fla.) (5-0)

The Hurricanes have three ranked wins on their resume but face no more ranked opponents this season. Georgia transfer Carson Beck also has his name atop the Heisman watch with Mendoza, tossing 11 touchdowns and 1,213 yards through five games. Mario Cristobal's squad appears to be in the driver's seat of the ACC as Miami eyes its first ACC championship in program history.

Navy (6-0)

The Midshipmen sit next to Memphis as the only two undefeated teams in the American conference, but they have a gauntlet over the second half of the season. Navy faces North Texas, No. 13 Notre Dame, No. 19 South Florida and No. 22 Memphis in consecutive games before rival Army. It will be a tough road, but the Midshipmen certainly have an opportunity to build a strong resume.

No. 1 Ohio State (6-0)

Another team without a ranked squad left on the schedule, the Buckeyes appear to be on track to compete for back-to-back national championships. First-year starter Julian Sayin looks to be settling in under center, passing for 1,479 yards and 15 touchdowns entering Week 8. However, a matchup with Michigan still looms as Ohio State looks to snap a four-game losing streak to its rival up north.

No. 5 Ole Miss (6-0)

Lane Kiffin's squad got a scare last week in Oxford, escaping Washington State by just three. The Rebels trailed most of the first half, pulling away in the fourth. Still it was closer than Ole Miss fans would probably like to see as the Rebels turn their attention to a road matchup with No. 5 Georgia this weekend.

No. 4 Texas A&M (6-0)

The Aggies are 6-0 for the first time since 2013 after rolling past the Gators at home. They already have an impressive road win over Notre Dame, but three straight SEC road tests lie ahead, first with the Razorbacks before traveling to LSU and Missouri. In a deep and wide open SEC, the next three weeks of conference play should give Aggies fans a better picture of what this team's postseason aspirations will look like.

No. 7 Texas Tech (6-0)

The Red Raiders' offseason additions seem to be paying off as Texas Tech has yet to really be challenged this season. Joey McGuire's squad has scored 30 or more in every game while not allowing 20 points all season. They appear to be on a collision course with No. 15 BYU in Week 11 in what could be a Big 12 championship preview.

UNLV (6-0)

The Rebels are in uncharted territory, off to their first 6-0 start in program history. Dan Mullen has turned this team into a contender, but it hasn't been without some close calls. Four of UNLV's six wins were one-score games, including a three-point win over now 1-5 Air Force in Week 7. It has its toughest test of the season this weekend against Boise State as the Rebels try to stay atop the Mountain West.
