TEXAS STAYS PERFECT, WIN IN 3
No. 2 Texas remains undefeated with a sweep over No.9 Arizona State in Austin, Texas on Sunday, Sep. 14, 2025. A sold-out Gregory Gym propelled the Texas momentum in a decisive top-10 win.
The Longhorns set the pace early in set one, securing a dominant 25-18 victory. Things got dicey in set two however, as Texas fought off two Arizona State set-points. After a touch challenge was reversed in favor of the Longhorns, their 30-28 victory was sealed. Texas carried that momentum into set three with a 25-15 triumph that sealed their sweep over the Sun Devils.
Veteran leadership from Stafford and back-court defense by Emma Halter no-doubt carried Texas to this top-10 win. However, the story of the day comes from the Longhorn freshmen. Cari Spears, Abby Vander Wal and redshirt freshman Taylor Harvey earned their stripes today, playing like they were the veterans themselves. Spears led the Texas team with a career-high 18 kills on a .382 clip, while Harvey registered eight monster kills of her own on 11 swings in her first career start and Vander Wal put up nine kills with two digs and a crucial block.
