TEXAS STAYS PERFECT, WIN IN 3

No. 2 Texas remains undefeated with a sweep over No.9 Arizona State in Austin, Texas on Sunday, Sep. 14, 2025. A sold-out Gregory Gym propelled the Texas momentum in a decisive top-10 win.

The Longhorns set the pace early in set one, securing a dominant 25-18 victory. Things got dicey in set two however, as Texas fought off two Arizona State set-points. After a touch challenge was reversed in favor of the Longhorns, their 30-28 victory was sealed. Texas carried that momentum into set three with a 25-15 triumph that sealed their sweep over the Sun Devils.

Cari Spears plays for Texas

Veteran leadership from Stafford and back-court defense by Emma Halter no-doubt carried Texas to this top-10 win. However, the story of the day comes from the Longhorn freshmen. Cari Spears, Abby Vander Wal and redshirt freshman Taylor Harvey earned their stripes today, playing like they were the veterans themselves. Spears led the Texas team with a career-high 18 kills on a .382 clip, while Harvey registered eight monster kills of her own on 11 swings in her first career start and Vander Wal put up nine kills with two digs and a crucial block.

The Longhorns' win over No.9 Arizona State marks their third consecutive top-10 win of the season and their fifth ranked win as they remain a perfect 6-0.

👀 Players and stories to watch

Time is winding down before the highly anticipated Top-10 matchup between No.2 Texas and No.9 Arizona State begins.

In the meantime, take a look at some key storylines and players on both sides of the net to keep an eye on during the match.

Double-Double-Trouble

Torrey Stafford has already registered four double-doubles in the first five games on the season. In comparison, she recorded six last year and four in total during her freshmen year campaign at Pitt. Can she add another to the list?

Cari Spears

The fierce freshmen has been on fire for the Longhorns and is coming off SEC Freshmen of the Week honors after impressive showings against No.12 Creighton and No.8 Wisconsin. She's tallied 60 kills on the season thus far on a .270 clip after adding 16 put aways in their match against No. 4 Louisville on Wednesday.

Colby Neal

Neal currently sits at No.11 in the NCAA for average blocks per set with 1.65. The 6'4 graduate middle blocker is a wall at the front for the Sun Devils, recording eight blocks in their face off against FGCU.

In-game update: Neal unavailable for Arizona State in their match against Texas today.

Sun Devils without heavy hitter

After an injury last week, Noemie Glover will likely sit out of play today. The junior opposite has been a force this season, tallying 22 kills against the then No.5 Penn State team in their upset-win. Will ASU be able to complete another upset without their heavy hitter?
