⚡️ Union takes Game 1 of the Friendship Four

Union men's hockey beats Sacred Heart in Game 1 of the Friendship Four tournament

No. 20 Union dominates Sacred Heart in Game 1 of the Friendship Four tournament, scoring eight unanswered goals in an 8-1 win to advance to the tournament championship game.

Sacred Heart opened the scoring in the first period after a miscue from the Union defenders and goaltender, leaving Gavin Bryant alone in front for a sweet backhand finish.

But that was all the goalscoring the Pioneers could muster in this one, as the Garnet Chargers outshot them 32-19 and blanked them for the rest of the game. Riley Brueck got Union's first of the game about six minutes after the Sacred Heart goal, and it was all Chargers from there on, as Union piled on eight unanswered goals in an offensive onslaught.

Union's eight goals are a new Friendship Four tournament record. The Garnet Chargers advance to the championship game with the chance to become the first team to win two Belpot trophies in the tournament's history.

Game 2 between Miami (OH) and RIT is on deck, with puck drop at 2 p.m. ET. Follow along right here on krikya18.com for live updates, scores and highlights during the game.
