For Markus and Jordan Howard, scoring runs in the family

Jordan Howard is scoring 23.7 points per game for Central Arkansas, seventh-best in DI.

If Markus Howard wasn't a household name before Wednesday's overtime win over Providence, he certainly is now.

Howard scored 52 points in Marquette's overtime thriller, a Big East single-game record. The sophomore put himself on the map last year, leading the nation in 3 point shooting (54.7 percent), while establishing a new Marquette record from beyond the arc. Those 3s played a big part in his 52-point performance, as Howard drained 11 of 19 from downtown, finishing 17-for-29 overall from the floor.

Howard is averaging 22.6 points per game on the season, 12th-best in DI. Five spots ahead of him is Jordan Howard, who scores 23.7 points a game. He's also Markus's older brother.

krikya18.com's Andy Katz caught up with Markus after his big performance. The two discussed this family bond, and how their preparation in the offseason makes them the sharp shooters they have both become. With training from their oldest brother Desmond, who played at Phoenix College, Markus says they take 500 to 600 shots a day in the offseason.

Katz also spoke to Jordan Howard, the 5-foot-11 point guard that makes the Central Arkansas Bears offense run, and middle brother of the three Howards. Now a senior, he is a two-time Southland All-Conference selection, and currently on pace for a career season.

Jordan leads the Southland Conference in scoring, dropping more than three points per game higher than any other season of his career. Like his younger brother, Jordan isn't shy from 3-point land. Markus is second in the NCAA with 60 3s made on the season, and Jordan isn't far behind, sinking 56 thus far in 2017-18. He's on pace to break his career high of 101 set his junior year, breaking his own single-season Central Arkansas record.

So, which Howard is the best shooter? Andy Katz makes sure to find out.
