🏆 Notre Dame wins second-straight national championship

Notre Dame dominated the 2024 DI men's lacrosse national championship with a 15-5 win to claim their second-straight national title. The only two titles in the program's history. The Irish finished the year 16-1 and became the first team to win back-to-back championships in consecutive years since Duke (2014-15).

KAVANAGH CONNECTION: ND 13, MD 4

The Irish are on fire, and the Kavanagh brothers are making it happen. Chris with 5 goals, Pat with 5 assists. Records are being broken. ⤵️

And let's not forget this behind-the-back stunner from Jordan Faison. That was goal number 11 for the Irish in their climb to a 13-4 dominating lead.

Maryland scored two in the first few minutes before going scoreless until late in the second quarter. Notre Dame's 10-1 run was highlighted by the Kavanagh show — Pat with two assists and Chris with the hattrick.

The Terps managed to temper Notre Dame's momentum and break through a packed Irish defense with a goal by Eric Malever on the EMO.

First quarter: Fighting Irish not missing a beat: ND 5, MD 3

The long-anticipated first quarter was worth the wait. The Terps managed a brief 2-0 lead before the Irish responded with a 5-1 blitz to go up 5-3.  Still plenty of time for Maryland to answer.

Neck-and-Neck in the first 10 minutes: ND 3, MD 2

No shortage of action in the first ten minutes, with Notre Dame leveling the score and then claiming the go-ahead goal. Something tells me, the scoring is just getting started...

Terps on the board 🐢

Maryland wastes no time. Just 34 seconds in, Ryan Siracusa gets the scoring started with an assist from fellow Georgia native, Eric Malever.

*After the 1990 championship, the krikya18.committee on Infractions determined that Paul Gait had played in the 1990 championship while ineligible. Under NCAA rules, Syracuse and Paul Gait's records for that championship were vacated. The NCAA does not recognize Syracuse and coach Roy Simmons Jr.'s 3-0 record, and Paul Gait's 7 goals, 7 assists and his participation in that championship.
